Abney Eye Center utilizes the most up-to-date technology witht the use of HD Spectral Domain OCT. SD-OCT has become a dymanic tool in the diagnosis and management of many eye diseases. It is able to detect very early changes in the macula and optic nerve which can lead to faster diagnosis, earlier treatment and vision saved. For patients with macular degeneration or amily members with macular degeneration, early diagnosis is extremely important. Since there has been hereditary patterns of this disease, patients need to rest assured that every technology available has been used to check for the earliest signs of the disease. OCT has also been shown to find glaucoma defects earlier than traditional visual field testing.
